Natural EyeMakeup Remover

I am not only a big time crafter, I also love to DIY many things like jewelry, makeup, etc.

Have you ever lamented over the fact that some makeup products are just off-the-chart expensive? Well, me too! So, I spent some time researching the Internet for some DIY recipes for eye makeup remover and found quite a few!

There are plain and simple two-ingredient kinds, oily kinds (hate them!) and petroleum jelly kind...I'm not a fan of using petroleum jelly on my face, so after watching some You Tube videos, I came up with my own recipe. I tried it and it works! It's not oily feeling, doesn't sting my eyes and leaves no residue behind! Here's the recipe...

Kathya's Natural Eye Makeup Remover
1-1/2 cups purified bottled water
1/2 cup witch hazel (found at your local drug store)
2 Tablespoons Tear-Free baby shampoo
1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil

Gently mix all ingredients in a Pyrex glass measuring cup. Pour mixture into clean bottle. Contents will settle, so with the lid secure, shake to agitate the mixture, apply to cotton ball and wipe off eye makeup! If you try this, let me know what you think!

Beach Umbrella Card

Hi Blogging friends!

Just wanted to share my latest creation of card making. Displayed above is my twist on a beach umbrella that is a cuttable file. It's in SVG format and you can purchase it over at DieCutDesigner.com. It may take a bit to post there, but well worth the wait. The umbrella is a layered SVG file that you can ungroup/separate in your cutting program that allows you to customize it. I can't wait to see what you come up with, so feel free to send me your designs and I will post them here!

Plaid Apron Card (Mother's Day)

After searching the net for a cute SVG file for a somewhat 'sexy' apron file to decorate for my sister, I gave up. I wound up creating my own SVG and I just LOVE to layer papers. It's fun to come up with color combinations. I wanted the dress to sort of look 'form fitting' so I created the dress base first and then the apron. Here's the original apron.

The second SVG layer doesn't include the 'ribbon.' What I did instead was create just the pink apron portion and created cut outs where you'd actually tie your apron strings. I will post another picture of the revised file and a completed card to show you what I mean. I hope you like the card and apron SVG...I think it turned out cute! Hope my sister likes it!

Matching Earrings and Bracelet (Square and Bling Necklace)

Square Stone and Bling Necklace

Hi Friends in Blog Land!

New Year's Day has started on the right foot for me. My hubby is resting with an upset stomach--not from what you all might think--it wasn't from the alcohol--it might be a flu bug or food poisoning...we can't figure out what it actually is. So, I'm here blogging and my sweet son Alexander who is at the tail end stages of a cold is watching Cartoon Neck-work (his pronunciation). He has been bugging me to help him assemble some Atlantis series Legos with him. So, after I post this, I'm going to spend some quality time with my little one.

I made this necklace for my sister, Lilly, who looks great in pretty much anything she wears. I wanted to have it ready for her in time for New Years, but I didn't want to rush it, either.

Here is another full picture of it...

I think it turned out lovely and I hope Lilly likes it. I'm going to make a set of matching earrings and bracelet, too. I will post them for you to see as well.

Book Style Gift Card Holder

Hi Everyone!

I was so busy this Christmas! I've been making gift card holders for my nephews Christmas gift cards. Then, I had to make one for my son from his Nonnie (grandmother in Italian).

After I gave them to my nephews, my sister said she would like one to give to her friend for her birthday. So it's perfect for a spa gift card!

Here it is in the making. From the SVG file I created, I scored the middle at 5 and a half...

...and at 3 from each edge.

Then, I folded the middle together and sealed the edges to allow the gift card to slip in.

So, I made two while I was at it! I hope you enjoyed your holiday! If you would like the SVG file, let me know. If it would help to see a video tutorial, let me know. I'd like to do one but have never done one. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Damask Holiday Card Inspiration

I snapped a picture from the beautiful Holiday Cards magazine I bought last year. You can find it at papercraftsmag.com. There is so much eye candy for paper crafters! I'm blown away by the creativity of all the talented artists.

I will tell you this...the title of the magazine is an understatement. There are lots of paper creations you can create! Just look at the cover!

I will be making some last minute cards before Saturday, so stay tuned...I will be posting!

Merry Christmas Card

I had to create something quickly for my boss who lives in southern California (SoCal to all you natives!). He's such a great boss that I decided to create something personal for him and his wife. I was inspired by all the gorgeous cards in last year's Papercraft magazine geared just for holiday cards. I used some damask digital paper (http://www.theshabbyshoppe.com)/in black and white. (Don't you just LOVE freebies!?...I do, and I especially love it when the freebies are just my style!) Then, used some deep red paper that I ran through my Cuttlebug with the polka dots impression. Next, using my Cricut, I cut out a light olive green scalloped circle. I stamped Merry Christmas in the center, embossed with some red glitter embossing powder and chalked the edges of it in charcoal. Finally, I used some organza ribbon in olive and tied that around the card.

Inside (and I'm sorry I didn't take a picture of it), I repeated the deep red border edge just toward the bottom to 'tie' the colors and card together.

I think it turned out lovely. What do you think?

Scrolly Holiday Xmas Tree Trio

Hello Fellow Bloggers!

It has been waaaaayyy too long since I've blogged or posted any crafty things. I'm so attracted to the little scrolly trees that seem to be on many holiday cards. I made this simple cut out in Sure Cuts A Lot. It is a simple triangle shape that I manipulated by stretching and adding an embellishment and a trunk for the base.

I'm pleased with how they turned out and I think I'll whip out a few cards over the weekend with them. I will try and figure out how to attach another file for this SVG file. Pink Swirly Boustiere (Corset) Card

Hi Fellow Crafters!

I had so much fun making this card for my SIL's birthday which is at the end of this month. She LOVES pink (like me!) so, I wanted to make something for her that shows she's still sassy at her very young age (okay, not revealing ages on this blog!).

This card was made using the 'corset' cut out that I downloaded for free from SVGCuts.com and you can download it, too, by going to this free corset download link.

To start this card, I cut out the three layers of the corset--two bottom layers in shades of pink and the lacy part in black. Then, using my glue pen which is exactly like a pen and puts an extremely thin line of glue down, I simply traced the swirly portion of the patterned paper and before the glue dried, I sprinkled sparkly pink glitter on top and shook the excess off.

Here's a close up of the glitter swirls:

Please note that I assembled all pieces of the card (including the top black layer before outlining the pink swirls. I think it would have been hard otherwise.

I plan on doing my first video tutorial of how I did this, so stay tuned and I'll research how to do a video and upload it for you here.

Hello Cloud Card

Hello Fellow Crafters!

I was inspired by a fellow card crafter who made a card similar to this one. (I can't remember her blog--sorry about that!) I do, however, intend to make a video tutorial of this card so you can see how I made it.

I LOVE how it turned out, despite the blurry photo that I took! It's a standard size card in blue cardstock and is embellished with some triangular shaped 'flags' in various other cardstocks. I put pop up adhesives on the back to give them dimension and then used a white gel pen to draw the dotted lines around the clouds and 'clothesline.' I also cut out some basic clouds using my Cricut Expression and then embossed them with the circles theme using my Cuttlebug (LOVE it!).

Simple Flower Cards Using Rhinestone Sticker Flowers

Hi Fellow Crafters!

These are a couple of cards I made using some flower dimensionals from K Marcella. Since the flowers had so much bling to them, I decided not to go overboard with the rest of the cards. I put simple sayings on the inside. They are your standard card that measures 5.5 X 4.25 inches finished.

Pink Flower Heart Card

Hi Fellow Crafters!

I came up with a few cards and due to having the flu a week ago, I didn't have the energy to post my work. So, here you go...

I've had stamps for as long as I can remember. I started out with quite a few rubber stamps and this heart was one of them. I savored the thought of being able to color the leaves and the petals and so, it came out of the woodwork,so to speak. I turned this into a beautiful card and embellished with some pink bling using some pink rhinestone stickers.

To start with, I embossed the entire stamp using some silver embossing powder and coloring the rest of the stamps using various Copic markers.

Smile Card

Hi Fellow Crafters!

I created a few cards yesterday and two this morning. I awakened pretty early this morning and decided to get some cards made so that I have some to spare in the nick of time when I need one. I also thought of making a few different ones as sets for my mom and sister for Mother's Day. I will post those when they are complete.

This card was made with a piece of red cardstock using my Cuttlebug--I LOVE this thing!--and some bling from Marcella by K. They are stickers already embellished with paper, so all I did was take a fancy leaf stamp, and embossed that. I used it as the stem of the flower and then pasted the flower dimensional by Marcella by K as the flower of the card. I stamped 'SMILE' on a white piece of cardstock. I've seen so many people do awesome things with bows in their projects, I've not mastered this yet, but I'm sure I'll figure it out with practice.

Baby Boy Card

Hi Eveyone! I've been so busy this week I didn't have a chance to load any new cards. But, it's Saturday and I actually finished this cute card that I intend to give to our company barista. She is expecting a baby boy in June and I wanted to do something special for her. I think this turned out pretty cute!

I wanted something a little unique on the inside, too, so here's a peek of the inside....

I have been also struggling with how to 'advertise' my blog or just share with people how to find me, so I started adding my name and blog to the back of the card, so here's a snapshot of that, too.

When creating a standard card--okay, what I consider a simple standard card--which is an 8.5 X 5.5 piece of cardstock folded in half, I thought it would be relatively simple to put my name and blog address on the back. I can print two cards by putting the text in a vertical format on a landscaped paper. If you have questions about this or want instructions on how to do this, just email me, and I'll gladly provide details.

I used Making Memories scrapbook paper and the sweet baby onesie is from ScappingTable.com (click on the link in my favorite websites and blogs on the right).

Thinking of You Card

Hi Everyone! It was a busy week and I didn't have time to post anything until today. I'm making several cards and will post more later today, time permitting.

The card above was created with Making Memories green card stock called Vintage Hip. I love the color. I then stamped some flowers in a pattern across the front on the green paper and made that as a border at the bottom and embellished with the 'rhinestones.' The stamp called 'Thinking of You" is a small stamp that comes with a set from Studio G. I embossed that with green Studio G ink that matched the paper. Unfortunately, nowhere on the container does it provide the name of the ink color (sorry!). Anyway, the above card fits nicely in a 4.5 X 5.75" envelope. It's already ready to be plopped in the mail to a former boss and friend of mine!

The card above is an easel card with a Fleur de Lis stamp (from Stamp Francisco Inc.) that I've had for ages. I've always been attracted to all things scrolly and from the Renaissance period, so you will see a lot of my work revolve around designs of that nature...I just LOVE them! I apologize for my beginning photography. I succeeded in creating my own light box that I use to photograph my work so at least that's done! If you want instructions on how to build one yourself, you'll find it relatively simple. I got my ideas from Googling the term DIY lightbox. If you'd like instructions on how I created mine, please email me and I'd be happy to tell you how!

Fleur De Lis SVG Freebie!

Green Stiletto & Brown Easel Birthday Card

Okay, I'm obviously obsessed with my own stiletto shoe I created as an SVG file! I love playing around with the variations of the file that I've cut on my Cricut Expression. I wanted to share the pictures with how cute they turned out! My SIL saw the previous cards I made and asked, "Are you selling them?" I responded with, "Not to you! I'll make you one for free!" So, the above is what she'll receive when she stops over for a visit.

I didn't even send my sister's birthday card that I made for her last week because in my craft studio organizing, I misplaced it but I eventually found it and decided to surprise her and make a new one. I wanted to try out the easel style cards that I've found so neat, so I decided to make one. Here's how it turned out! Below shows a close up of the raised greeting at the bottom that helps keep the card in 'display' mode. I love how it turned out.

Happy Birthday Cake Card

This is a birthday card I made for my sister. I think it turned out pretty but I'm not thrilled with it. I think it's just far too busy. But, I thought I'd share anyway. The cake cut out is from SVG Cuts.com and it's a free SVG file you can download. I have a few more pictures to upload of cards I'm making so stay tuned!

Green Stiletto Happy Birthday Card

This is a simple card I made using a self-created SVG stiletto shoe image that I cut using my Cricut Expression. I simply cut a piece of white card stock to create a folded 4X6 card and rubber stamped some flourishes. I put a band of green card stock followed by a band of coordinating coordinating print on top of the green. Then, I cut, embossed and heat set some gold glitter in the impressions of the embossing. Finally, I stamped the Happy Birthday sign in matching green ink, embossed with clear embossing powder and affixed the shoe to the card with glue dots. Using my Making Memories punch and eyelet setter, put fuschia matching brads on the shoe and Happy Birthday sign. This took a while to make, but I love how it turned out and my girlfriend was "Wowed!"
